A Vision for a Stunning Extension
In 2018, Sally and John sought to enhance their newly built home in the picturesque Meon Valley with a striking two-story glazed oak frame extension. Their vision included a vaulted roof that would create a sense of space and light, making the extension a standout feature of their property.
To bring their ideas to life, they trusted us to collaborate closely with Chace Building Company, ensuring the design seamlessly integrated with the existing architecture of their home. Sally and John wanted a striking glazed oak frame that would not only serve as a functional living space but also enhance the aesthetic appeal of their home.
The collaborative effort between Sally, John, us, and Chace Building Company ensured that every detail was thoughtfully considered, resulting in a cohesive and visually appealing extension.
Designing the Glazed Oak Frame
The design phase focused on creating a harmonious balance between the extension and the main house while incorporating modern design elements. The project included a vaulted roof, allowing for higher ceilings and an abundance of natural light to flood the interior.
Large glazed panels were carefully positioned to maximise views of the surrounding landscape while ensuring privacy.
The use of green oak for the framing was essential, as it provided a natural and rustic charm that complemented the modern design of the house.
The vaulted roof and glazed panels were designed to create an inviting environment that connected the indoors with the stunning outdoor views of the Meon Valley.
Overcoming Construction Challenges
Throughout the construction process, various challenges arose that required innovative solutions. One of the main obstacles was ensuring the structural integrity of the glazed oak frame, particularly with the unique vaulted design.
Close collaboration between the designers, craftsmen, and builders allowed for effective problem-solving, ensuring that the extension met safety standards without compromising its aesthetic appeal.
Moreover, the integration of the extension with the existing house required careful planning to ensure a seamless transition. The team worked meticulously to align the materials and finishes, achieving a unified look that blended the old with the new.
The end result was a striking extension that appeared as a natural extension of the original home, demonstrating the effectiveness of teamwork and expert craftsmanship.
A Harmonious Addition to the Home
The completion of the green oak extension in 2018 marked a significant enhancement to Sally and John's home. The new space provided them with a beautiful area for relaxation and entertaining, characterised by its open and airy atmosphere.
Sally and John now enjoy a remarkable living space that reflects their personal style and meets their needs, all while enhancing the overall character of their property.
The successful collaboration with Chace Building Company highlights the importance of teamwork in achieving a shared vision, resulting in a stunning addition to their family home.
