Client Vision

In 2021, Mr. and Mrs. Highams sought to enhance their Curdridge, Hampshire residence by creating a spacious, open-plan area that seamlessly combined their kitchen, dining, and living spaces. Their primary objective was to establish a harmonious connection between the interior and their picturesque garden.

To achieve this, they envisioned an orangery featuring a mansard roof design complemented by expansive bifold doors. This combination aimed to flood the new space with natural light while providing unobstructed views and easy access to the outdoors, thereby blending indoor comfort with the beauty of their garden.

Design and Planning

Collaborating closely with the Highams, the design team focused on creating an orangery that would not only meet their functional needs but also enhance the aesthetic appeal of their home. The mansard roof was selected for its classic architectural lines, which harmonise with the existing structure while offering a sense of grandeur.

To maximise natural light and garden views, large bifold doors were incorporated, allowing the entire space to open up during favourable weather. The interior layout was meticulously planned to ensure a cohesive flow between the kitchen, dining, and living areas, facilitating both daily living and entertaining.

Construction Process

The construction phase commenced with the careful selection of materials that would ensure durability and aesthetic appeal. Skilled craftsmen erected the oak-framed structure, paying meticulous attention to detail to achieve a seamless integration with the existing building.

The mansard roof was constructed to provide both height and character, while the installation of bifold doors required precision to ensure smooth operation and a perfect fit. Throughout the project, the team maintained open communication with the Highams, ensuring that their vision was being realised at every stage.

Outcome and Client Satisfaction

Upon completion in 2021, the Highams were delighted with their new orangery. The space successfully encapsulated their desire for an open-plan area that connects effortlessly to their garden. The mansard roof and bifold doors not only enhanced the visual appeal of their home but also provided a versatile space that can be enjoyed year-round.

The interior of the orangery was designed to offer a timeless aesthetic that blends seamlessly with the older part of the home. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living areas create a welcoming environment, perfect for family gatherings and entertaining. Classic yet contemporary finishes were carefully chosen to complement the home’s existing character while enhancing functionality.

The project now stands as a testament to thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship, resulting in a harmonious blend of functionality and elegance that has significantly enriched the Highams' living experience.
