Enhancing a Home with Timeless Oak Extensions

In 2014, Mr. and Mrs. Bailey embarked on a major refurbishment of their home in Horsham, West Sussex seeking to enhance both its functionality and aesthetic appeal. Their vision included two elegant mansard orangeries to extend the living space and a single oak-framed garage at the front of the property. The goal was to create a seamless blend between the new additions and the original structure, ensuring a timeless and cohesive design.

The mansard orangeries needed to create bright, welcoming spaces for relaxation and entertaining, while the oak-framed garage had to be both a functional storage solution and a visually pleasing addition that enhanced the property’s curb appeal.

By carefully selecting high-quality materials and focusing on expert craftsmanship, we were able to achieve a design that balanced traditional charm with modern usability, perfectly complementing the existing architecture.

Thoughtful Design: A Mansard Roof with Rustic Elegance

The two mansard orangeries were carefully designed to provide additional space while maintaining architectural harmony with the existing house. The mansard roof design not only added character but also helped the extensions integrate smoothly into the property’s overall profile.

Large glazing elements were incorporated into the orangeries to flood the interiors with natural light, creating bright and airy living spaces. The oak framing added warmth and traditional charm, ensuring that the extensions felt like a natural continuation of the home.

Whether used for dining, relaxation, or entertaining, these beautifully crafted spaces enhanced the daily living experience while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.

A Practical and Stylish Oak-Framed Garage

At the front of the property, the addition of a single oak-framed garage provided both practical storage and aesthetic value. Designed to complement the house and new extensions, the garage featured high-quality oak framing, traditional joinery techniques, and a pitched roof in keeping with the overall style of the home.

The garage’s design prioritised functionality while maintaining the classic appeal of oak construction. Its solid build ensured durability, while the natural ageing of the oak over time would add to its character. Positioned thoughtfully at the front of the property, the garage enhanced the home’s curb appeal while providing a secure and stylish storage solution.

A Cohesive and Timeless Transformation

The completion of the project resulted in a beautifully enhanced home that combined practicality with timeless design. The mansard orangeries added valuable living space, filled with light and framed with elegant oak detailing, while the oak garage provided a functional yet visually appealing addition to the front of the property.

By carefully selecting materials and maintaining a consistent architectural style, we ensured that the new structures felt like an integral part of the home rather than modern extensions.

Mr. and Mrs. Bailey’s vision for their refurbishment was brought to life through expert craftsmanship and attention to detail, creating a property that balances classic elegance with modern convenience.

Testimonials

What our clients are saying

“From our very first meeting, we felt like we were working with old friends who really understood what we wanted. They took the time to listen to our ideas, understood the vision we had, and then worked their magic to make it even better than we imagined! The orangeries, with their expansive windows, have completely opened up the space, letting in an amazing amount of natural light. It feels like our home has been given a whole new lease on life. The garage, too, is more than just a place to park the car. It’s now a beautifully designed space that blends perfectly with the rest of our home. It’s functional but looks like it’s been there forever—just exactly what we wanted.”
